can be a viable business tool. Sometimes it
is for an event, other times it is for company recognition. |

Commercial illustration
: is
for business. High profile and recognizable, that is real
artwork made for the real world. Not watercolor, not oil painting-
but vector art for promotional use. Helping to drive business-
that is commercial art at it's root. Modern, elegant, varied and
defining! |

dog with wheels. The trick was a design based on 3 spot colours...period.

FreeHand
is the tool. |
Making events fun > artwork
to smile by. It is good to have a background in cartooning
and children's illustration. Bringing out the fun with good, clean
art is what enhances these commercial event pieces. |

Back in the day : Before computers and email
and everything we hold so dear, there was real art. In those
days publishers and art directors would receive one of my
postcards in the mail, and then ask for a meeting to view my portfolio
of completed artwork. |

Truth is
you could not crank out as much, but the work created was lasting
and physical- you could touch it. This is not a lament, far from
it. |
Below > digital
pen + ink. from a wide- sweeping upcoming project. It
began as a simple pencil sketch that has consumed countless hours.
Unlike the "for hire tickets", personal projects take
a back seat and seem to take forever to complete. This
one is all to God who gave me the talent. Amen. |

Once
computers were able to take the commands I made of them, the body of work
changed dramatically.
Edits were easy, and without starting over! Colour changes, resizing
and formatting the script was made as simple as eating a bagel. Truth
is that I did hold on to the ink well, the nibs, the Pantone art
markers and acid-free paper for a long time. But for what I create-
commercial illustration... these are great days indeed! - Jeffery
